2001 One Hour Postal Swim - Pittsburgh Edition

This year's One Hour Swim already happened (in January,  2000), so
you're too late. However, next year's event is coming up, you lucky
things.

The event will be held at the Trees Hall Pool, at the University of
Pittsburgh, on Sunday, January 7, 2001, beginning at 8:00 a.m. We'll be
swimming short course (25 yards). (Many thanks to Kevin McLaughlin,
Pitt's Aquatics Director, for allowing us to keep holding this event,
which for unknown reasons keeps having more and more participants.

For those of you unfamiliar with the event, the object is to swim as far
as possible in one hour. The reason for doing this remains unclear.

For more information about the event, see the USMS page :

There will be 2 heats, one beginning just after 8 a.m., and the other to
follow immediately. Swimmers in the second heat will be expected to
count for those in the first heat, and vice versa.

There will be a charge for T-shirts this year ($12), and  if you let us
know ahead of time, we might just have them available on the morning of
the event.  This is our local fee.  If you wish to submit your results to the national event,
that fee is separate.  We will have forms for the national event available.

The record is still 60 minutes, although a few of last year's
competitors are trying to bring it in under an hour this year...

We'll have some light refreshments.

Let one or both of us know if you're coming, so we can plan, and maybe
even get the T-shirts.
