I do science and computer graphics at the
Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center.

My current major projects involve:
- HERMES,
a discrete event simulator for vaccine distribution chains, and
- Read the Web,
a machine learning project at CMU focused on learning facts by understanding natural language web documents.
My previous projects and interests include supercomputing
performance prediction and
the visualization of large mathematical datasets.
I am the primary author of the FIASCO/Fiat software
for statistical analysis of fMRI data, in connection with the
Center for Cognitive Brain Imaging.
I team-teach a course in Computational Physics (33-456) at CMU Physics, and
occasionally at Pitt Physics.
